Learning Objectives By the end of this module, you will meet these learning objectives:
Module Overview Even though it might not always be comfortable, receiving feedback allows us to grow and develop into
better learners and professionals. It is important to realize that no one is perfect and even experts still have
room to improve their knowledge and skills in one way or another. The term constructive criticism is often
referenced in relation to feedback. The word criticism can sometimes lead to confusion, stress, and even a
closed mindset. Therefore, criticism is often taken negatively. In this module, we will focus on constructive
feedback. We will explore how to receive it, process it, and implement it so you can improve your initial
submissions. The feedback we get from others allows us to view our work from a new perspective and
identify errors in our initial submissions. It is easy to forget that getting feedback and editing our work is a
large part of the academic process.
It is important to learn how to accept this feedback as part of your growth toward becoming an expert
learner. Ignoring feedback and assuming perfection may prevent future learning from different perspectives.
It’s important to accept constructive feedback and understand how new ideas, thoughts, and concepts can
help you reach your goals in a timelier manner. In this week’s assignment, you will explore your perceptions
of feedback and think of how diversity awareness impacts our ability to give and receive feedback. This will
help you better understand the process of reviewing and including feedback in your future academic
endeavors.
