Read excerpts from Tan's "Two Kinds" and Sedaris' "Me Talk Pretty." Write a healthy paragraph response to each question (approx. 1/3, not exceeding 1/2 page each). Integrate and explicate words/quotes/scenes from the text to support each response. Follow MLA format. Edit word choice. (Read words to avoid, and study a list of active verbs). 1. Discuss the similarities in the messages the authors are conveying.
2. Identify symbols and themes in both texts and discuss their significance in relation to the texts as a whole.
3. Compare the similarities in the texts and how language shaped the authors' personal experiences.
