Due Thursday April 25, 2024 by 10:00 pm

NOTE: This is a School Counseling Course

Must Read Everything:

Reply to at least two classmate’s posts, applying the RISE Model for Meaningful Feedback

I will also show an example below of how the response needs to be addressed.

Here's an example of how the response should look. Please don't copy it.

The response to the classmate need to be just like this.

Example Response (Response Needs to be written just like the response below No copying)

RISE Feedback:

REFLECT: I concur with "Action plans should reflect the type of services that are needed and have an idea of the expected outcome of the services" because it is in line with Hatch and Hartline's intentional school counseling guidelines in regards to determining students needs.

INQUIRE: Can you further explain what "closing-the-gap action plans" are?

SUGGEST: I encourage you to revisit Hatch and Hartline's MTMDSS tier interventions in order to add a citation that would illustrate your example on bullying prevention efforts.

ELEVATE: What if you re-purposed "For example, after a needs assessment, the school is having problems with bullying" as "Following Trish Hatch's MTMDSS tier based interventions, if the school is having problems with bullying, after a needs assessment, we could... citation..."  for a more weighted argument?

Describe your experiences with impacting climate in your school environment.

As the school year draws to a close, I find myself reflecting on the experiences I've had as a school counselor intern that have impacted the climate of our school environment. In particular, the individual counseling sessions I conducted with 8th grade students to help them academically and the behavioral challenges faced by 6th grade students in the classrooms have been particularly impactful. During my individual counseling sessions with 8th grade students, I focused on providing personalized support to address their academic needs as they approached the end of the school year. Through these sessions, I had the opportunity to build rapport with each student, understand their unique strengths and challenges, and collaboratively develop strategies to enhance their academic performance. Whether it was providing study tips, helping them set realistic goals, or offering encouragement during challenging times, these sessions allowed me to make a positive difference in the lives of these students. Simultaneously, I found myself addressing behavioral challenges among 6th grade students in the classrooms. These challenges ranged from disruptive behavior to difficulty managing emotions and conflicts with peers. In response, I worked closely with teachers to implement proactive strategies and interventions aimed at promoting positive behavior and creating a supportive classroom environment. Through these experiences, I've gained valuable insights into the connection of academic achievement and social-emotional well-being in shaping the school climate.

How do you handle feedback? How can feedback improve one’s work?

I actually enjoy receiving feedback and listening to different ways in which I can improve my working style. I think that internships are the best opportunity for us to be able to learn before we go on into our professions. My site supervisor has done a great job at providing feedback at what I do at my site. As a result, I have been able to better my parent communication and parent presentations. I also reflect on her working style in comparison to other School Counselors at the school and I have realized that her working style is similar to my own.
