The FLSA governs everything from overtime to job classifications to compensable work time. Many wage-hour violations arise not from intentional misconduct but from misunderstandings about what counts as work and who qualifies as exempt.
Consider the following scenario:
A regional tech services company classifies its “Field Support Specialists” as exempt administrative employees. Their job description lists duties such as troubleshooting hardware, installing equipment, and responding to service tickets. In practice, most of their work involves routine tasks following detailed checklists, and they rarely exercise independent judgment. They are paid a salary and routinely work 45–50 hours per week without overtime. Supervisors also expect them to check email at night and respond to customer messages during weekends, though no formal timekeeping system exists for after-hours work. One employee files a complaint alleging misclassification and unpaid overtime under the FLSA.
In your initial post, address the following:
- Based on the duties described, would the “Field Support Specialist” role likely meet the administrative exemption? Why or why not?
- How does the difference between actual job duties and job descriptions affect FLSA exemption analysis?
- Are the after-hours emails and weekend customer responses compensable time? What factors determine this?
- What recordkeeping issues in this scenario could increase the employer’s liability?
- What corrective steps should the company take to bring itself into compliance and reduce future risk?

#7: When considering the readings this week on the Cold War, how do the various interpretations compare to any previous studies of the period? Further, what new insight did you bump into while reading and do you agree or disagree with any or all of the interpretations, and why?
2. Within the same body of the response you make to the writing prompt in Part One above, I would ask that you also frame a response to the following question as well: In this week's readings, Jacobs wrote, "For too long, the cold war blinded historians to the deep divides that existed within American politics, culture, and society in these years." Assuming Jacobs is correct (and all interpretations are debatable), which of the so-styled divides Jacobs mentions would you say was most significant and why?

Organizational culture and leadership are often cited as critical factors in the success or failure of change initiatives. Analyze how a specific leadership style (e.g., transformational, transactional, servant leadership) can either mitigate or exacerbate employee resistance during organizational change. How do cultural elements, such as shared values or norms, interact with leadership approaches to influence the change process? Use case studies or research findings to substantiate your argument.

Explore techniques for enhancing employee engagement through performance management systems. Share successful strategies.
Reflect on your experiences with performance management systems in your workplace or internships. How have these systems been used to boost employee engagement? Share examples of successful strategies that have been implemented to improve performance and engagement. What specific techniques or tools were used, and what outcomes did they achieve?

American jazz served as the foundation for rock and roll music. American jazz is explored in the Discussion this week.
Select one jazz composer that is not covered in the course text. (Some in the text include Scott Joplin, Sippie Wallace, Original Dixieland Jazz Band, Louis Armstrong, and Jelly Roll Morton.) Write the post from the perspective of the chosen composer. Discuss the style of his or her music. Explain how this composer influenced the development of jazz. Also show how his or her contributions have impacted popular American music.
Write from the composer's perspective--using first-person voice. Do not just include a biography of the composer. The focus is on the style of music, contributions to the evolution of jazz music, and the impact this composer's music has had on popular American music. Include a YouTube link featuring a performance of the composer's music. Write in your own words. Cite all sources/provide links to your source(s).

This week, we examined works of art that reflect sociocultural concepts of Islam, Africa, East Asia, the Pacific, and the Americas. Select and fully identify a work of art from this week’s module resources that piqued your interest. What did you find interesting about that work of art? What does that artwork tell us about the culture that created it? Remember to support your responses with scholarly information and your own observations of the work. Some excellent works to investigate would include: King Tut's Funerary mask, the Pyramids at Giza, the Ziggurats of Mesopotamia, the tomb of King Tut, the Neo Babyloanian Ishtar Gate which is stunning, Persepolis, Machu Picchu, the Terracotta Army, and more.

This discussion includes several steps. Please complete the following steps and write an initial post answering the questions:
- Please go to this website [webpage] and take the Project Implicit test.
- Select the Project Implicit Social Attitudes link.
- Read through the information here and select I wish to proceed at the bottom of the page (keep in mind that the information they want to gather from you is optional and you do not have to give any information about yourself to see the results)
- Scroll down and select the Race IAT link
- Read through the information and select Continue
- On this page, you can either answer the Questions in the Questionnaire or select Decline on each question
- You can then answer the Demographic questions or select Decline to Answer for each question
- After going through the Demographic questions, you will see the instructions for the Project Implicit test. Follow these instructions and complete the test. At the end of the test, you will see your results.
- Consider the Project Implicit test that you took and what you learned this week about validity and reliability. Do you think that the Project Implicit test is valid? Is the Project Implicit test really exploring your implicit bias or do you think the test has limitations? What about the method they use of clicking letters on the keyboard to determine internal bias? What type of measurement error could emerge through the method used in the Project Implicit test?
- Do you believe that the Project Implicit test is reliable? Would you likely get the same results if you took the Project Implicit test 10 times in a row?
- How would we test the validity or reliability of the Project Implicit test? How could we improve the Project Implicit test to be more valid or reliable?
- Now, think about other surveys, quizzes, or tests that you have taken in the past. For example, a survey about your political views. Was that survey valid? Did that survey explore the actual topic of the survey? Was this survey reliable? What is the importance of having a reliable and valid measurement?
Q9 (jay math) (data set attached)
or this forum we will discuss confidence intervals and what they mean.
Initial Post Instructions:
- Choose a data set of fuel prices from the attached Excel file.
- Find the mean and standard deviation for the data set. Please do not try to do this by hand, but use the functions in Excel.
- Find the 95% Confidence Interval for your data.
Response Post Instructions:
Respond to two of your classmates by analyzing what the confidence interval means in this scenario and how this data can be used. And then compare how the results vary between the different data sets.
Sample initial post:
- First find the mean and standard deviation. (Refer to video in week 2 discussion.)
- Then type this in an excel cell =confidence.norm(0.05,stdev,samplesize) and hit enter. This is the E value. (Note: please use your standard deviation and sample size and not the words.)
- Set up your confidence interval: (mean-E, mean+E)
It is important to go back and read follow up responses from your instructor.
Formula you used above for the confidence interval:
The formula is E= zsubc * sigma / sqrt n
Where the left hand endpoint is xbar - E and the right hand endpoint is xbar + E

Discussion Prompt:
Part 1 – Initial Reflection (Due Day One):
In what ways do digital transformation initiatives impact organizational structures and the nature of work?
- Provide a thoughtful, research-informed response based on your current understanding, course materials, and/or personal experience.
- Consider changes to hierarchies, communication flows, job roles, and employee expectations.
Part 2 – AI-Augmented Reflection (Due Day Three):
- Revisit the same question, but this time use a generative AI tool (e.g., ChatGPT, Copilot, etc.) to assist in formulating a new or revised response
- Compare and contrast your original response with the AI-supported one.
- What differences do you notice in depth, perspective, or clarity?
- Reflect on how AI might support or limit critical thinking and analysis in academic or professional work.
This two-part format:
- Reinforces core OB concepts like change management and organizational design,
- Introduces a metacognitive layer where students think about how they think,
- Promotes ethical and critical use of AI tools in knowledge work.In what ways do digital transformation initiatives impact organizational structures and the nature of work?
