Position Paper

Submit a personal position paper about your emerging view of group counseling. This paper is to be five (minimum) to seven (maximum) pages in length. A position paper requires that you use current peer reviewed literature to support your position. Direct quotes tend to be overused, as a result, do not use direct quotes in this paper. Turnitin (the plagiarism detection software used by MSUM) will be enabled for this paper. Once you submit the paper, you will get a similarity report. Please ensure that you are properly paraphrasing/citing according to 7th edition APA; this (along with avoiding direct quotes) should keep your percentage on the similarity report low. Please see below (p.9 of the syllabus) for more information on Turnitin. The paper should include the following points:

a. A focus on the conceptualization of how you would choose to lead/facilitate a group and why.

b. The theoretical orientation and subsequent concepts that underlie your developing approach to group counseling.

c. Use supporting information from at least 7 peer reviewed sources (i.e. journal articles). You can use the course textbook as one of the 7 sources.
