poem reflection
Prompt: Consider the idea of reflection introduced by McClanahan. Why is reflection important in creative nonfiction? What is gained (or even lost) when we reflect on the significant (and not so significant) moments in our lives? How does memory feed our writing, or possibly limit it? Also, consider what Provost and Alexie are attempting to say about the importance of writing and how we communicate our ideas (specifically at the sentence-level). What insights did you gain from reading their pieces? What can you “steal” for your writing? Finally, how is reflection present in the videos by Momoa and Abani? How do the two speakers use their memories, their relationships, and their connections with the world to share their personal stories?
