Organizational Conflict at Your Workplace

In a culturally diverse workplace, team members differ in their thinking, experience, background, working habits, emotions, personalities, and behaviors. They can also differ in physical characteristics, such as height, race, color, age, gender, and physical abilities. Identify three ways in which diversity will impact your leadership style and employee-development strategies.

Tasks:

In this module, look at specific conflicts and examine the conflict styles and tactics involved.

• Analyze how conflict is handled and resolved in your organization while considering and incorporating some of the module terms, concepts, and theories.
• How do groups and individuals react in conflicts? Do they engage in conflicts productively?
• What communications style is used to address/manage the conflict?
• Record any examples that support your observations.
• Analyze the communication practices observed.

Consider the following in your analysis:

• Description of conflicts and methods for resolution.
• Ways management of change, technology, or persuasion came into play.
• Conflict styles and strategies used in the organization.
• Communication style(s) used to address/manage the conflict.
• Integrate and cite concepts/terms/theories from the module readings.

Your final product will be a 2- to 4-page Microsoft Word document (not including the title page, references, and appendices, if needed). Your paper should be formatted as per current APA standards; be written in a clear, concise, and organized manner; demonstrate ethical scholarship in accurate representation and attribution of sources; and display accurate spelling, grammar, and punctuation.
