Preschool Video Observation

For this assignment, first watch the two videos below.

Then, write a paper containing the following sections. Each section is to be clearly labeled and is expected to be at least 1 full page

Begin with an opening paragraph (just as you would any paper or essay).  A paragraph must be at least 3 sentences long.  Next, detail the following sections:

I. Kindergarten Readiness: Refer to the "Building Blocks of Kindergarten Readiness" located in Chapter 8 of your textbook.  Choose 2 of these and describe the ways in which  you saw these occur within the video "Language for Learning."  For each chosen building block, you must provide a separate paragraph.  Mark the first paragraph with an A. with the name of the building block and the second paragraph with a B. with the name of the building block.  I will never assume your knowledge and thus, you must be explicit in your understanding of concepts.  Therefore, if the building block is not clearly stated, you will not receive full credit for this piece.

II.  Play:  Refer to "A Safe Space for Gross Motor Play" and compare that with the types of play detailed in Chapter 8.  Choose 2 of these types of play and describe ways in which they were demonstrated in the video.   For each chosen type of play, you must provide a separate paragraph.  Mark the first paragraph with an A. with the name of the type of play and the second paragraph with a B. with the name of the type of play.  I will never assume your knowledge and thus, you must be explicit in your understanding of concepts.  Therefore, if the type of play is not clearly stated, you will not receive full credit for this piece.

III.  Philosophy of Education: Describe and detail how/why what you observed in the videos does or does not fit in with you own Philosophy of Education.

IV.  Course Connections:  Make at least 2 more connections between what you observed in the video and something you learned in class (something that makes you think, "I read about that!" or "We discussed that!").  These connections cannot already be detailed in Sections I, II, or III.
