Needs Assessment

A needs assessment is the formalized process of determining the needs, wants, desires, and preferences of patrons. The assessment forms the basis for developing a program plan, marketing plans, and many other planning materials. A needs assessment can take the form of a questionnaire that is distributed to a sample of constituents to gather information about:

Leisure patterns

Leisure priorities

Leisure needs and gaps

Suggestions for future growth and development

Willingness to pay and support new initiatives

Evaluation of existing programs and services
