In this unit, the classical experimental design and alternative approaches were introduced, and each approach's differing components were discussed at length. Which of these approaches do you think is most sound in terms of guaranteeing the integrity of internal validity? Do you think that your preferred approach would be useful for ensuring internal validity in all particular circumstances? Why, or why not?

Each of the designs discussed is this unit comes with its pros and cons.  All can be beneficial, depending on the information you hope to gather.  However, when you talk about which is most sound in terms of guaranteeing the integrity of internal validity, I would choose the classical experimental design.  Not only because our text states it is the prototype of a randomized experiment, but because it looks at both sides with the subjects used in the research.  This approach uses random assignment of subjects to either an experimental or a control group and uses the data collected from each group to measure the outcome.  The goal is to see the changes the from one group to the other, thus maintaining the integrity of the study.  I don't think the classic experimental design would be useful for ensuring internal validity in all particular circumstances simply because it is subject to producing results that only apply to one situation and may be difficult to replicate if the study is done again.  There is also the issue that could arise from your sample group not being a true representation of all people who could possibly be polled.
