CLASSMATE’S POST
It is important to tailor the wording of the questions to the targeted participants when designing and constructing a questionnaire survey, (Hagen, 2014). It is also important to ask only one question at a time. The slight changes in the way questions are worded can have a significant impact on how people respond. The choice of words and phrases in a questionnaire is critical in expressing the meaning and intent of the questions to the participants and ensuring that all participants interpret the questions the same way. Even small wording differences can substantially affect the answers participants provide. You must consider whether certain words may be viewed as biased or potentially offensive to some participants, as well as the emotional reaction that some words may provoke. Also, it is important to ask questions that are clear and specific and that each participant will be able to answer. If a question is open-ended, it should be evident to participants that they can answer in their own words, (Krosnick, 2009).
