Strategic Planning for the Underinsured and Uninsured Homeless Population

Hello, and thank you for reviewing my teach-back presentation. The purpose of this presentation is to summarize the faculty feedback I received on my Systems Thinking Part 1 assignment, explain my understanding of the feedback, discuss how I plan to revise my work, and identify any areas where additional clarification may be needed. One of the primary areas of feedback focused on strengthening the discussion of the healthcare needs of the underinsured and uninsured homeless population. My understanding of this feedback is that while I identified barriers such as lack of insurance, transportation difficulties, mental health concerns, chronic disease burden, and substance use disorders, I need to provide more evidence demonstrating how these factors contribute to poor health outcomes and increased healthcare utilization. To address this recommendation, I plan to incorporate additional current literature and population health data supporting the need for comprehensive healthcare services for homeless individuals. Another area of feedback involved strengthening the vision and mission statements. My faculty suggested that these statements should more clearly align with the goals of the proposed healthcare initiative. I understand this feedback to mean that the vision statement should describe the long-term desired future state, while the mission statement should clearly define how the healthcare system intends to achieve that vision. In revising my assignment, I will ensure that both statements directly support equitable healthcare access, care coordination, and improved outcomes for homeless individuals. The faculty also recommended expanding the operational analysis. In my own words, this means providing greater detail regarding the administrative, financial, legal, and clinical resources required to successfully implement the proposed healthcare program. To strengthen this section, I will further describe staffing requirements, funding sources, community partnerships, risk management considerations, regulatory compliance requirements, and clinical service delivery models. Another important area of feedback focused on systems thinking. I understand this feedback to mean that I should more clearly demonstrate how various components of the healthcare system interact to influence outcomes for homeless populations. In response, I will further discuss the relationship between healthcare organizations, social service agencies, shelters, behavioral health providers, community resources, and public health agencies. This will help illustrate the interconnected nature of the healthcare system and the importance of collaborative approaches. I also received feedback regarding measurable outcomes. My faculty indicated that specific outcomes should be identified to evaluate program effectiveness. To address this recommendation, I plan to include measurable indicators such as reduced emergency department utilization, increased primary care engagement, improved chronic disease management outcomes, increased mental health treatment participation, improved patient satisfaction, and enhanced housing referral success rates. Additionally, I received feedback regarding scholarly writing and APA formatting. I understand this feedback to mean that I should ensure consistency in citations, references, grammar, organization, and overall scholarly presentation. Prior to resubmission, I will carefully review the paper to ensure full compliance with APA 7th edition standards. Based on the feedback received, my revision plan includes strengthening the evidence supporting the healthcare needs of the homeless population, enhancing the vision and mission statements, expanding the operational analysis, incorporating systems thinking principles more explicitly, identifying measurable outcomes, and improving APA formatting throughout the document. One area where I would appreciate clarification is whether additional community stakeholders should be included within the operational analysis and whether specific benchmark outcomes are preferred for evaluating program success. In conclusion, the faculty feedback has helped me better understand how to strengthen my strategic planning analysis and improve the overall quality of the assignment. The revisions will allow me to more effectively demonstrate systems thinking, leadership planning, and evidence-based decision-making in addressing the healthcare needs of underinsured and uninsured homeless individuals.
