Metaphors

Metaphors are integral to our lives. We think of it as figurative language, a product of language; however, Lakoff and Mark Johnson in “Metaphors We Live By” argue that “metaphors as linguistic expressions are possible precisely because there are metaphors in a person’s conceptual system” (6).  They use the example of the concept of time “Time is money” to show how we talk and think about Time. Explain the ways in which metaphors shape the way we see the world and other people. Using examples and logical reasoning, explain if you agree or disagree with the authors about how metaphors shape our world and reality.
