Paper Format:
- 3 pages (MAXIMUM)
- Double spaced
- 1 inch margins
- 12 point font
In the first paragraph:
Specific Paper Content
Introduce the topic of your paper and briefly describe in your own words the two different types of declarative memories.
In the second paragraph:
Summarize the Information Processing Model of memory including the 3 major components (Sensory Register, Working Memory, and Long-term memory). Indicate the flow of information between these 3 processes as declarative information is stored in and subsequently retrieved from Long-term Memory.
In the next 4-5 paragraphs:
Begin by briefly describing lifelogging, especially the type of information that is stored. Indicate which type of declarative memory it corresponds to. In the next 3-4 paragraphs, describe 1 way in which lifelog memory differs from Long-Term Memory on 3 of the following the 6 dimensions: (1) encoding and storing, (2) retrieval, (3) organization of memories, (4) forgetting (decay theory), and (5) forgetting (interference theory). Finally, discuss 1 possible modification to the procedure used by the lifelog system to make it more similar to human LTM and explain how this modification accomplishes this goal.
In the next 1-2 paragraphs:
Transition to the second form of digital memory – information stored on web pages. Indicate which type of declarative memory it is most similar to. Explain how “surfing the web” is similar to processes in human long-term memory.
In the final paragraph:
Describe what type of information is most important for people to store in Long Term Memory if it becomes easier to store and retrieve information in a digital form in the future. Briefly explain why.
