Part 3a - Audio Bridges

• Discuss and compare Skype and another form of PTP (i.e. vent. teamspeak, etc).
  • Students will need to coordinate talking to each other with Skype and Other.
  • Students will need to possible install and/or try the trial version of each package.
• Things to talk about in your posting
  • Describe each of the systems above.
  • Describe the comparison system.
  • Compare/contrast the two based on the bandwidth issues presented in the Jones/Knezek article.
  • Discuss cost, installation, and support issues such as the manpower needed to make the system run.
  • Discuss what is gained and what is lost in each environment regarding educational utility.

Part 3b - Web-based Meeting Spaces

• Discuss and compare Adobe Connect Pro and Web-Ex.
  • Students will need to coordinate working with each other using the technologies.
  • Students will need to possible install and/or try the trial version of each package.

  • Discuss the educational affordances that these virtual environments might provide in your classroom or training setting?
  • What is the future of virtual environments in education and learning?
