How can being an effective follower translate into developing yourself as a future leader?

Being an effective follower can translate into developing oneself into a future leader. We have all been followers once and in some areas of our lives. When we are in such a role, we can learn important skills that can help us become effective leaders. This is because we can see how other people “lead” others and if the goals are accomplished by following the leader. Based on the leader’s influencing, followers can “make or break” goal/goals. Being a follower, we can learn different skills from the leader. Some skills that one learn as a follower can help them become better leaders. These skills can include awareness, courage, diplomacy, courage, critical thinking, and collaboration. For example, if you admire a leader for their collaboration skills, you would learn how they collaborate by working with them and you would improve your collaboration skills as well by learning from them. All leaders were followers once as well.
