Topic:

I want you to write about your reading history in both your native language/s and in English.

Reflect on your reading history first and then start writing.

Here are some questions to help you get started:

Do you remember when you first learned to read (in your native language)? Was it easy

or difficult? Do you remember who helped you learn to read?

When you were growing up, did you have any books in your home? If yes, what kinds of

books did you have? If no, was there another place where you could get books (e.g. a

library or school)?

Do you remember when you first learned to read in English? How did you learn? What

did you read? Who helped you? Did you like it?

Do you like to read in your free time? If yes, what do you like to read? Why? Do you

have a favorite author?

Do you think there is a connection between reading and writing?

When thinking about others you know (including your peers in class), do you think you

are a better reader, a poorer reader, or an average reader?
