Journal 10 MMC

profilebrendaxo

You will compile a total of 10 "Media Literacy Journal Entries" over the course of the entire semester. Each entry focuses on a question related to the class content. Pick one question and write a 350-word discussion in reply. Your assignment, should demonstrate understanding of the question, analytical thinking and writing skills, as well as creativity.

Question for this week:   The First Amendment protects (almost) anything that was published in literature, movies, and other works of art - even descriptions and depictions of actions that would not be protected in "real life". Do you consider this protection justified, or should certain descriptions/depictions be forbidden to protect the audience? If so, name examples of depictions/descriptions that in your opinion create harm and should not be allowed.

Grading Criteria:

Your assignment will receive a full score if it

  • discusses one question from the current week (as an exception, you may pick a question from a previous week if you missed class or don't like any of the current questions; this may be done no more than 3 times per semester)
  • demonstrates understanding of the question and an analytical response/discussion
  • incorporates at least two technical/theoretical terms from class or the textbook
  • is using the terms correctly and citing the textbook (or other sources) where necessary
  • shows creativity - either in content, writing, or formatting; you are allowed (and encouraged) to include multimedia materials (cite them if they are not yours!), visuals, etc.
  • is at least 350 words in length
  • is written in proper, grammatically correct, college-level English
