Introduction to Descriptive Statistics

The purpose of this assignment is to review and understand basics of statistics by learning key terms.

Review and summarize the key terms of statistics; descriptive and inferential statistics, scales of measurement, types of variable, population and sample, population parameters and sample statistics.

1. Define descriptive and inferential statistics. Focus on the difference between the two types of approach.
2. Define population and sample. List typical parameters from population and sample statistics.
3. Refer to Table 1.6 (textbook) and indicate the types of variable and the scale of measurement for each variable.
4. Refer to Table 1.6 (textbook) and Indicate how you can summarize the information in each variable.
