Are you currently teaching and/or coaching at the K-12 level.? Give some information

about your site and responsibilities. The results of this question posed in the introduce yourself

discussion found that 17 individuals stated that they are not currently teaching and/or coaching at

the K-12 level, while 34 stated they were currently teaching and/or coaching at the K-12 level.

Out of the 51 participants, 33% do not teach and/or coach at the K-12 level, while 67% of

participants do teach and/or coach at the K-12 level. There were 5 participants who teach and

coach at the K-12 level, while 5 participants identified themselves as strictly coaching at the

K-12 level.

Who was your favorite high school teacher? Why? The results of this question posed in

the introduce yourself discussion found that this question brought many different responses.

There were 7 individuals who stated their favorite teacher was their math teacher, 7 individuals

stated their favorite teacher was their science teacher, 11 students stated their favorite teacher

was their history teacher, 4 individuals stated their favorite teacher was their English teacher, 5

individuals stated their favorite teacher was their physical education teacher, and 17 individuals

stated their favorite teacher was another subject or did not provide the subject they taught. Some

of these other subjects include band, business, sports, entertainment and marketing, health, art,

and ceramics. Some participants didn’t provide a subject taught at all and just named their coach.

When looking at the pie chart below, 14% of participants chose a math teacher, 8% of

participants chose an English teacher, 14% of participants chose a science teacher, 21% of

participants chose a history teacher, 10% of participants chose a physical education teacher, and

33% of participants chose a teacher who taught one of the other subjects or were their coaches.

Are you currently working as an administrator at a school or at a college/university? Give

some information about your job responsibilities and where you are working. The results of this

question posed on the introduce yourself discussion board found that 39 out of the 51

participants are not currently working as an administrator at a school or at a college/university.

This would also mean that 12 out of 51 participants are currently working as an administrator at

a school or college/university. This question provides us with the information that 76% of

participants do not work as administrators at a school or at a college/university, while 24% of

participants do. Within the 24% of participants who currently work as an administrator at a

school or at a college/university, 6 of these participants are at a college/university.

State in one sentence what you think is the biggest challenge facing the American sports

system. What level are you referring? Why do you think this? The results of this question posed

on the introduce yourself discussion board found that there were mixed responses to this

question. There were 6 participants who stated that the name image and likeness (NIL) deals are

the biggest challenge. The specialization of sports at an early age was chosen by 8 participants,

while mental health was chosen by 6 participants, and the transfer portal was chosen by 4

participants. Lastly, the subject 9 participants chose that the biggest challenge facing the

American sports system is focusing on competition rather than learning and development in

youth sports. 18 participants chose the categories of parents, lack of sportsmanship, women in

sports and their recognition, and keeping athletes drug-free. This question is posed to bring a

bigger sample of responses because each participant brings different experiences to their

response and how they want to impact the sports industry.

Was, or is, your parent a teacher and/or coach? Give a little information. The results of

this question posed on the introduce yourself discussion board found that there were 25 of the

participants did not have a parent who was a teacher and/or a coach. 18 participants had one

parent who was a teacher and/or a coach, and 8 participants had both parents who were teachers

and/or coaches. This information suggests that 49% of participants didn’t have a parent who was

a teacher and/or coach, while 35% of participants had one parent as a teacher and/or coach, and

16% of participants had both parents who were teachers and/or coaches. The different types of

coaching included youth sports, high school, and college/university, while the teaching included

K-12 through college/university courses.

What subject or grade level did his/her parent teach and/or coach? Give some

information. The results of this question posed on the introduce yourself discussion board found

that 49% of participants had no parents who have taught or coached, while 51% are found to

have taught or coached. There are some participants who state their parents have only coached.

Those participants whose parents coached ranged from volunteers, youth coaches, travel ball

coaches, middle school coaches, high school coaches, and college coaches. The participants

whose parents taught are 17, and they range from elementary school, middle school, high school,

and university-level courses. The participants whose parents coached are 17 and the different

places or spaces they have coached is listed above. The participant who stated their parents did
