This is one of the websites that was created out the concerns of the effects of drug abuse in the country. It multiple pages that address different issues associated with the misuse of drugs. This particular “Health Consequences of Drug Misuse” address various health related issues that come as a result of drugs use. There are various effects that drug have on the health of individual which be categorized into short- and long-term, and direct and indirect. Each drugs and the mode of uses has also influence of the type of health issue that one is likely to develop. The page discusses that changes in appetite, wakefulness, change in heart rate, blood pressure etc. as some of the short-term effects of using drugs. The long term effects that are associated with continued use of drugs include cancer, mental illness, HIV/AIDS, and hepatitis among others. Indirect effects, on the other hand, affects an individual and the people around for instance violence and trauma. Direct effects are those that can affect and individual using them.

One of the serious effect of the use of drugs is addition which is a behavior one develops that does not allow him or her to stay without using them. One of the highly addictive drug is alcohol. There are people who can’t do anything with taking booze. The website “Projectknow.com” address the tops that are associated with helping drug and alcohol addicted individuals. On this page “Drug and Alcohol Addiction Treatment”, Hatfield discusses ways through drug and alcohol addict can be treated. He explains that the primary treatment focuses on honesty of an addicted individual. At this initial stage a person under treatment is subject to accepting reality, exploring the feelings, thoughts, and beliefs that resulted him or her using the substance.

The author also explains the importance of undergoing treatment. One of them, as he puts it, is that the addicted individual is unable to quit unless professional disorder treatment specialist is engaged. Also, the addiction treatment is important since it helps an individual to cope his or her everyday life without turning to drugs.  Lastly, the author discusses the effectiveness of the treatment. He points that one willingness to stop drug abuse, social support, medical and psychological issues and person conducting treatment as factors that are related to drug addiction treatment effectiveness.
