-Homework 6: Marx’s highly influential understanding of ideology has an epistemological 

focus, meaning that he understands ideology to be a system of beliefs that distort or misrepresent

reality. That is to say, ideologies give a false representation of reality. Furthermore, these 

ideologies often benefit certain groups over others. Give an example of such an ideology and 

explain why it is an ideology in the above sense. How does it distort our understanding of 

reality? Who benefits from this distortion?
