Description: 

This assessment allows you to critically analyze a barrier to equitable healthcare, evaluate its impact, and propose evidence-based policy solutions. By engaging in this activity, you will enhance your analytical and advocacy skills, which are essential for addressing health disparities. 

Instructions: 

Select a Barrier: 

• Choose a specific barrier to equitable healthcare impacting a population or community. Examples include gaps in Medicaid coverage, limited access in rural areas, or implicit bias in clinical settings. 

Analyze the Barrier: 

• Describe the nature of the barrier, its root causes, and the populations most affected. 
• Explain how this barrier impacts individuals, organizations, and the healthcare system as a whole. 

Propose Policy Solutions: 

• Develop at least two evidence-based policy recommendations to address the barrier. 
• Explain how these solutions could reduce disparities and improve equity. 
• Consider challenges or unintended consequences of implementing these solutions. 

Create a Policy Brief:

• Write a 2 -page policy brief summarizing the analysis and proposed solutions. The brief should include: 
• An overview of the barrier. 
• Key data or evidence supporting the need for policy changes. 
• Proposed policy solutions and their expected impact.
