 Five Major Killers

Most of us are  aware that heart disease is the number one cause of death for all  Americans, regardless of age, ethnicity, or socioeconomic status.   However, what we fail to realize is that heart disease (like stroke,  diabetes, and some cancers) is largely preventable.

  • Select one of the five major killers (i.e., heart disease, cancer,  stroke, chronic obstructive pulmonary disease, or diabetes) and analyze  the factors within the elderly population that cause the disease.
  • Then, analyze the steps that we can take early in our lives to decrease our risk of developing the disease in old age.
