A true summary concisely recaps the main point and key supporting points of an 

analytical source, the overall arc and most important turns of a narrative, or the main subject and key features of a visual source. For this assignment the 

source to be summarized is a chapter.

For this assignment,

1.) Identify the focus of the chapter, making sure to include any links across other 

chapters to better understand the author’s take on the case. Book summary of "Blind Justice" is available online to reference other chapter besides the one attached when needed. Linking your summary to the author’s overall framework that explains the motivations for prosecution is particularly important as it helps set each chapter’s case in context.

2.) Outline the key information presented in the chapter, noting the major points and supporting material, anecdotes and stories, along with the author’s stated and/or apparent purpose for inclusion.

3.) Write your summary, paraphrasing the author’s narrative and citing key original passages as needed. When you paraphrase or copy a phrase from the original be sure to put quotation marks around the phrase and cite it appropriately using APA style (i.e. year, author & page number) and include a full citation to the source at the beginning or end of your paper. Remember to avoid including your own ideas, opinions, or interpretations into the summary. This means you must be very careful of your word choice, aligning your summary language and style with the author of Blind Justice. Write using "summarizing language," periodically reminding your reader that this is a summary by using phrases such as the author suggests, etc.
