There was a wonderful book published last year by a geneticist named Siddhartha Mukherjee from Columbia University.  The book was entitled The Gene: An Intimate History. (Links to an external site.)  The filmmaker Ken Burns has now produced a two-part series on PBS based on Dr. Mukhergee's book and I am asking each of you to view the videos (available under Modules/Genetics Videos) entitled The Gene: An Intimate History -Part I & II.  This video integrates much of what we learned about Mendelian inheritance with modern approaches to curing human genetic disorders and improving the human condition.
