Step 1 Read the following article.

Step 2 Write a post answering following questions.

What is the main argument of this article regarding the origins of racism?

What are some of the examples of the impact of racism and what the author calls "internalized racism" in everyday life for individuals?

Step 3 Read and respond to other students' posts.

Read other students' posts and respond to at least two of them who used examples different than yours.  Do you agree with their selections?

Use your personal experience, if it's relevant, to support or debate other students' second posts.

If differences of opinion occur, debate the issues professionally and provide examples to support opinions.

Search on your Internet browser about the gender pay gap. Find the most recent figure for the United States and three more examples from around the world, paying attention to choosing countries in different levels of development or ones culturally distinct from each other (such as those on different continents).

Step 3 Write a post answering following questions.

Did the number you found for the United States surprise you? Why or why not?

Why do you think there remains such a gender gap in pay between men and women?

Step 4 Read and respond to other students' posts.

Read other students' posts and respond to at least two of them who used examples different than yours.  Did they find different numbers than yours? How about their explanations?
