For the first stage of your FINAL PROJECT, you will write a 1000 word description/definition of the “The Problem” only. Do not write a solution or mention how the problem affects the company financially. JUST DESCRIBE THE PROBLEM in detail–Use the “you” attitude: write for YOUR audience, not for me. They (he or she) are the only ones who can solve your problem. –Mention Location: where does the problem take place? How often do people, not just you, interact with the problem, or how often does the problem interact with them, or you? –Describe the Problem: detail counts, so think about how to explain the problem as a problem to a your audience. (REMEMBER: what you think is a problem might not be considered a problem by your audience. You have to convince them that your problem is not just you, but YOUR AUDIENCE!) –Make sure you have a PURPOSE STATEMENT: usually located at the very beginning of a report, the purpose statement defines the purpose of the report and who the intended audience is. This statement should be located at the top of the first page.It can be separate from the report, or imbedded in the introductory paragraph.–Be sure the report has all the writing conventions: Introduction, Purpose Statement, Body Paragraphs supporting the Purpose Statement, and a Conclusion. –Give your Report (even at this stage) a working title. –Be sure to double space, have paragraphs, a serf font, etc.
