Part 1(my part) my assigemt
Cummings’ poem Somewhere I Have Never Travelled is replete in metaphors. For instance, he metaphorically talks of closing himself like a fist which his lover only has the power to open. This metaphor symbolises how his lover illuminates his heart even when he is emotionally down. Further, the speaker uses the common love metaphor when he talks of roses whose. Roses symbolise deep love and happiness (Gialamas, 2014). However, in this case, the speaker indicates how his lover sometimes puts him down emotionally when he talks of a rose whose petals are being plucked. He uses this imagery to convey how sometimes love can be soar if there is lack of common understanding just like the beautiful roses whither during drought. The use of these metaphors, similes and imagery make the poem so captivating and makes it much easier to understand (Spacey, 2016). Actually they are like the flesh to the poem that adds delicacy to the audience as they read it.

Part 3 another classmate question and comments please respond base on part 1 which is my assignment)

I also read this poem. But I had thought we weren't allowed to use out side source, only our vital source text book? Also the citation that I had learned in comp one should include author, year, seq. I hope this helps you.

Part 4 classmate question and comments please respond to her comments and answer base on the poem that is an part 1

Hey -------, when I first read this poem, I understood right away that the theme was love, but i didn't fully understand the poem and thought it was kind of abstract. I like you interpretation. However I think the kind of love the author is mentioning isn't obvious, because it could be romantic love , family love or even friendship. what makes you think he is referring to his lover ?
