Self-Introduction Speech Outline

Instructions:

As a way of introducing yourselves to the instructor and your peers, please create a DRAFT of the self-introduction outline to be used as the notes/preparation for your Self-Introduction Speech that is also due this week.

The post should be written in a formal outline format and should introduce yourself to the class. To prepare the outline, use the “Example Self-Introduction Full-Sentence Outline” shown in the document attached below. Your outline should have enough content to deliver a 3-5 minute self-introduction speech. This outline should include the following:

• Introduction
• Body with transitions between main points
• Conclusion

Note:  This outline will be due for final grading with your Self-Introduction Speech. Please consider the feedback you receive and decide how to use it to improve upon your outline before you submit the final version with your speech by Sunday night.

It is also helpful to view your peers’ outlines and received feedback if you are unsure about something in your outline. Learning from others will be an important part of this online course.

• Welcome the classmate to the course.
• Critique the outline by providing strengths and areas of improvement based on the quality of the following areas of the outline:
  • The Introduction – are all parts (Attention Getter, Topic Announcement, Speaker Credibility & Preview) present and developed?
  • The Body - Does the outline develop at least 2-3 main points present and developed in the body?
  • Are transitions present and properly worded to show movement between the main ideas in the body?
  • The Conclusion - Does the conclusion bring finality to the outline? Are all parts (Signal the end, Summarize Main Ideas, Closing Statement) present?
