The Criminology of Terrorism  

Start off by defining the difference between being a criminal and being a terrorist. One of the most glaring differences is criminals tend to be opportunistic in their crimes; normally seeing an opportunity and seizing upon it. There is normally little, if any planning and most terrorist are not fully committed to their “cause”. In many cases, when confronted, a criminal will flee whereas a terrorist tends to be much more committed to his work; even if it means his/her death. Criminals are normally motivated by physical wealth whereas a terrorist rarely considers wealth unless it is money needed to fund future terror activities.
