Discussions Initial Post (Due 1 hour)
See the articles in Course Materials. Go to Unit I, Understanding the Technical Writing Environment, scroll to Lectures and Other Documents and click the link to view the two articles for this assignment. Staples contends that there is a need for a writing revolution. In addition, in his article, Wiens contends that he will not hire people with bad grammar. Based on the readings, what do these authors mean? In this age of technology, when everything is practically done for the reader, how will a writing revolution be beneficial to employers? What can colleges and universities begin doing right now to better prepare their students for this writing revolution? Use examples from both articles to support your views. Respond to at least two other students' posting in your response. Be sure to include the name of the person you are responding to in our post.
Note: If you do not believe that a writing revolution will benefit employers, tell why not. Also indicate how you feel colleges and universities can better prepare their students for writing in the workplace.
