  A summary is used to provide a synopsis of a given piece of literature explaining the authors concise points and perceptions of the piece they wrote in your own words. The seven steps of writing a summary helps the reader comprehend from beginning to end. A summary includes being able to scan the text for specific content, absorb the ideas, and review for additional clarification as necessary; it outlines ideas in your words; develops a thesis to provide concise main point details; cites your sources for each part so the summary reader can understand where you pulled the information from and arrange the information to support the authors points; ask yourself the “who, what, where, when, and why” to answer any outlying questions; check your summary’s grammar; and asking a friend if available to take a review in the event you missed any pertinent details. The tone will set the entire mood to spike the reader’s interest in the main literature, so, the overall tone should be an objective tone in order to convey to the reader the “who, what, when, where, and why” necessary to read the title based on your summary.
