Discussion Question 5

  1. Revisit your hypotheses to see if Chi-square test, Spearman, or simple regression can be used to test them. (Not all statistical tests are appropriate for all types of data.) Specify your variables and data of levels
  2. One cannot draw correlations with nominal data, but the test for coincidence is not inconsequential.  How would this test be useful in a Title VII discrimination case? What level of significance would you use, and why?
  3. Can you identify some situations where correlation doesn't prove causation? Can you identify some situations where people look for simple correlations when what they are trying to explain is more complex?
