Discussion Question 4

  1. Revisit your hypotheses to see if a t-test or ANOVA would be appropriate to test your data (this will depend on your type of data; not all tests are appropriate to all types of variables). Specify your variables and data of levels.
  2. How do you determine the level of significance or p-value you will use for a particular problem?  (Why would you set the significance at, say .05 as opposed to .001?)  Why might the level of significance you might use be substantially different for different problems?  Give examples.
  3. What kind of data is best evaluated by ANOVA?  How could using ANOVA for the wrong level of data lead to inaccurate conclusions?
