After watching the film "Policing the Police" at https://www.pbs.org/wgbh/frontline/film/policing-the-police/ (Links to an external site.)Links to an external site. and reading the Washington Post's article on Officer Amber Guyer (https://www.washingtonpost.com/nation/2018/09/09/theres-enough-evidence-charge-dallas-officer-accused-killing-man-his-home-lawyer-says/?noredirect=on&utm_term=.3945cd5e9b72  (Links to an external site.)Links to an external site.) post your answers to the following questions.

In order to receive full credit  (10 points), your response must be at least 300 words. However, just  because you post 300 words does not mean you will receive full credit.  The content of your post matters. Students must also reply to one other student to receive full credit.

1) What is your reaction to the film?

2) What can be done to improve  race-relations among police officers and civilians? (Think about the  factors that cause violence discussed in chapter 10). How does "trust"  factor into these relationships?

3) In your opinion, should Officer  Amber Guyger be charged with murder or manslaughter? Why? Also, should  her actions be considered a hate crime? (Think about the roots of hate  discussed in chapter 10).

This discussion may evoke strong emotions, but instead of  responding emotionally to these questions I’d like you to step back and  consider thinking sociologically to solutions to this problem. From a  sociological point of view, problems have social roots. They are caused  by structural or social forces in our society. It is important to figure  out where problems stem from in order to develop solutions.

Also, disagreements are bound to happen but I expect everyone to remain respectful when replying to other students.
