Discussion 8 - Advocacy and Cultural Competence

 Listen to the NPR news story, Ferguson Pastor: This is Not a Race Issue.  For this discussion topic, you will need an adult partner who is not  part of the dominant culture and/or not part of your own group. This  might be someone who is older, a person of color, a person with a  disability, or someone who is gay or lesbian. Generate a list of  questions you could ask to gain fuller understanding of what it is like  to be ______ in the dominant culture. What are their needs? In your  post, discuss the questions you asked your partner and the responses you  received. After interviewing your partner, how might you advocate for  this group within the dominant culture?
