This week we are back to our standard format for conference questions. There will be two topics, each requiring a top level post. 

1. This week we are going to look at ransom ware. Please analyze and reply to the following with a detailed explanation:

• Why is ransom ware the most lucrative type of malware?
• Why is it so difficult to defend against ransom ware?
• Why don’t backups completely protect against ransom ware attacks?
