Current News VS Fake News (it is only a Discussion Board)
For this week's discussion you are required to research a current news topic/event and conduct research to determine if the news story is a legitimate story with credibility. President Trump has become synonymous with the term "fake news," often accusing traditional news outlets of disseminating news stories that are not credible. You are required to research a current news story and based on your research determine if the story is credible. This particular discussion has a two-fold objective. This discussion is designed to introduce you to political websites that should become a part of your daily internet activity and encourage you to fact-check every political story/news event you encounter. Political news stories are often the easiest to manipulate and facts are often labeled as 'alternative facts.' A number of websites you can visit include but not limited to the following: huffingtonpost.com; drudgereport.com; salon.com; heritage.org; theroot.com; mediamatters.com; politico.com' thinkprogress.com and realclearpolitics.com.
In your initial post be sure to cite the website you visited for the story and provide the steps you followed to fact check the story. The story must be a political story and provide a brief biography on the author of the story.
