In a fully developed essay(4-5 paragraphs) choose one of the cultural areas (foodways, clothing/dress or hairstyling/maintenance.) Write an essay that explains how this area represents African American complex heritage as being a part of two worlds (“Negro” and “American”). To do this reflect on W.E.B. Du Bois notion of “double consciousness“ in your response of how African America culture is always representing “two warring ideals, two warring souls in one dark body.”
