Your initial post should be roughly 600 words in length, and your responses to peers should be roughly 100 words each. Cite sources you reference in-text and under a "References" section in APA format.
You have been asked to evaluate your organization for areas of improvement. The aim here is to find new effective ways to achieve strategic objectives by improving efficiency in your operations. Please answer the following discussion questions by using the operations management concepts discussed in the course.
Post your first post by Wednesday at 11:59 pm (PST) and respond to at least two of your classmates by Sunday at 11:59 pm (PST)
1. Why is it important for business units to continually revise their product or service offerings?
2. What new products or services is your employer, or an organization you are familiar with, considering? Recommend some metrics that could be used to measure the performance of the new product or service.
3. Describe a transformation process in your organization. What are the inputs and outputs for each step? Can you determine the success criteria for each step in your selected process?
Grading
This discussion is worth 30 points, and the initial post will be due by Wednesday at 11:59 PM PT.
Please respond to these topics individually with a clear opinion or thesis. Use no more than two paragraphs to make sure you synthesize your point and be very specific. More information can be confusing and will not improve your grade and could be very time-consuming for your peers to read. References, attachments, links, videos, etc. are recommended to support your point. "I agree or disagree" are not acceptable answers and avoid personal and/or superficial opinions.
Students are expected to participate at least twice every week as follows: posting his/her answers during the first three days by Wednesday at 11: 59 pm PST and responding and commenting to at least two (2) of their peers by Sunday11:59 pm PST. Please resist the temptation to respond or comment on the first three days, since you want to read ALL of your peer's postings first. You would need to log in again in the second part of the week and respond at that time. By doing so, we can also feel more connected as a group. Note: Waiting until the last two hours will result in reduced points as it defeats the purpose of a meaningful discussion.
The instructor will be monitoring the discussions and adding comments only when needed. These threaded discussions are designed to explore the content of the class and develop your critical thinking. Your comments should add significantly to the discussion by suggesting other solutions, pointing out problems, or even totally disagreeing. Make sure you substantiate any comments by stating your reasons and relating your answers to the content learned in class, and do some additional research when necessary, even include websites or links when opportune.
