Grading
Students are expected to participate in all four threaded discussions plus the student's Bio. The instructor has posted topics for the threaded discussions each week.
Please respond to these topics individually with a clear opinion or thesis. Use no more than two paragraphs to synthesize your point and be very specific. More information can be confusing and will not improve your grade, and could be very time-consuming for your peers to read. References, attachments, links, videos, etc., are recommended to support your point. "I agree or disagree" are unacceptable answers and avoid personal and/or superficial opinions.
Students are expected to participate at least twice every week as follows: posting his/her answers during the first three days by Wednesday at 11: 59 pm PST and responding and commenting to at least two (2) of their peers by Sunday11:59 pm PST. Please resist the temptation to respond or comment on the first three days since you want to read ALL of your peer's postings first. You would need to log in again in the second part of the week and respond then. By doing so, we can also feel more connected as a group. Note: Waiting until the last two hours will result in reduced points, defeating the purpose of a meaningful discussion.
The instructor will be monitoring the discussions and adding comments only when needed. These threaded discussions are designed to explore the class content and develop your critical thinking. Your comments should add significantly to the discussion by suggesting other solutions, pointing out problems, or even totally disagreeing. Make sure you substantiate any comments by stating your reasons and relating your answers to the content learned in class. Do some additional research, even include websites or links when opportune.
Each discussion board is worth up to a maximum of 30 points and they are awarded in the following manner:
