PROMPT FOR ONLINE DISCUSSION POST #2:

The purpose of this post is to begin analyzing Season of Migration to the North while paying special attention to the fact that we are reading in translation. In your post, you should discuss the following questions:

• Select one theme and/or central conflict that stands out to you in the first half of the novel. How is this theme developed in the first half of the novel? Why do you think it is important? Use the close reading skills we practiced in class last Thursday to provide specific examples from the text that support your answer.
• What questions, if any, do you still have after reading the first half of the book?
• Comment on the experience of reading in translation by bringing in ideas from any of the articles on translation we have read so far.
