Debate Instructions:
Provide a brief introduction/description of the discussion topic. Simplifying and summarizing the prompt will prevent the need for excessive scrolling. Debate instructions:
You have been divided into two groups. Group A will support SNCC and what evolved into the Black Power movement. Group B will support the SCLC (Martin Luther King, Jr.'s movement). To participate in the debate, you need to research both positions. The required work will help you. Who will you be in this debate? What character will you pick? It does not have to be an actual historical figure. You can be, for example, a white SNCC worker or a Black Panther working in the breakfast program. Stay in character for your responses because each response is part of the debate.
Post your initial post in character supporting your assigned position. You are then required to continue the debate by posting responses to the arguments of at least two classmates assigned to the opposing group. Do not make assumptions. Instead, assume the historical role of someone who lived in the United States during this period. Whatever you write should be in character. Be creative! Remember that everything you argue, although in character, must be grounded in academic research and must demonstrate that you have done the required work.

The topic for week 6 is cell communication. In this case study you will examine cell communication by looking at the effects of chemotherapeutic drugs on newly generated cell lines. You will explain research outcomes using your prior (or researched) knowledge of signal transduction pathways such as G-protein coupled receptors, hormones, glycolysis, oxidative phosphorylation, and DNA structure and function.
You will follow the story of "Emily," an undergraduate student who is accepted into an internship program focusing on the breast cancer cell line MCF-7. Emily learns that MCF-7 cells can survive the treatment of tamoxifen and a hormone deprivation regimen, which leads to the generation of new cell lines (Tam3 and TamR3) that do not activate the mTOR signaling pathway. Emily attempts to predict how the Tam3 and TamR3 cells will respond to the mTOR inhibitor rapamycin, and then incorporates drugs used for chemotherapy into her experiments.
This case study will ask you to analyze data, draw a research-based conclusion, interpret experimental results, and discuss the relevance of your research findings.
Read through the attached case study and answer the Three C's (expained below in Part A) and then answer the case study questions according to the instructions in Part B, below. You will post all of this (the 3 C's, and the answers to questions from Part B) into the discussion board as your initial post.

You could draw upon real world examples like something you read in the news recently, something from your favorite TV show, or any other form of connection between this case study and the importance of its content outside the classroom.
