 For this assignment, I would like you to open and close a door of your choosing and listen for the sound of it closing. What makes the sound? How long and loud is the sound? What physical, material elements contribute to the sound of your chosen door?

After you have closed your door, experimenting with the different ways you might play your chosen door-as-instrument, please describe the sound created by the door. Is it musical (i.e., is it a note)? Is it noise? How would you describe it?* Now that you know what the sound is, can you make music out of this sound? Can you organize it?
