Culture/Climate Survey Submit the assignment by 11:59 PM PT Sunday of Module 4.
Principals often use survey results to gain insights into the perceptions of their students, teachers, staff, and parents about the climate and culture of their school. Principals identify areas of strength and areas for improvement, and they develop targeted interventions to create a positive and supportive learning environment for all members of the school community. The National Center for Education Statistics provides the U.S. Department of Education School Climate Surveys (EDSCLS) (https://nces.ed.gov/surveys/edscls/questionnaires.asp) for schools to collect data from various stakeholder groups. Data must inform decision-making to improve school climate and culture.
In this assignment, you will analyze data from a school culture and climate survey from a selection of students, instructional staff, noninstructional staff, and parents/legal guardians and summarize the results in an email to the staff with at least three data visuals. The email will conclude with evidence-based strategies and actions to improve the school’s climate and culture.
Step 1 Research the topic of school culture and climate using the following key phrases:

Step 2 Download the Sample Culture/Climate Survey Results Data Set (https://ace.instructure.com/courses/1992465/files/164032567/download?wrap=1) resource.
Create three data visuals to convey key findings from the survey results. The purpose of data visuals is to present complex information in a clear and accessible way, allowing viewers to easily understand and interpret the data. The data visuals should show similarities, differences, and connections among stakeholder groups.
At least one of the data visuals should be a chart with aggregated and disaggregated (by groups) survey results for key items/themes.

Data visuals should also highlight four areas of strength and four priority areas for improvements.
One strategy to find strengths and weaknesses is to find the mean score for survey items that are the same or have common themes across the four stakeholder groups. To calculate the mean score, add the scores per item and divide by the number of scores.
Step 3 Compose an email to the staff to share the survey results using the ACE Email Template (https://ace.instructure.com/courses/1992465/files/164032554/download?wrap=1) . Your email should contain detailed information and show how multi-stakeholder collaboration leads to informed decision-making.
The email should include:
Greeting Purpose Anonymous participant information (e.g., number of respondents, stakeholder group, or demographic) Three data visuals to convey critical information from the survey results Four strengths and four opportunities for improvement, supported by data Logical, sequential, and explicit strategies or actions the school and/or staff must take to address the opportunities for improvement Conclusion with the explicit connection between data analyses leading to campus decision-making In-text citations and references
Share your email draft with your mentor or school official for feedback on your email’s content, tone, and style. The text in the body of the email, excluding text from the data visuals or references list, should be 500- 700 words.
Although you are sharing a wealth of information with your staff in an email, it is a principal’s job to simplify complex information concisely. Use headings and bulleted lists to guide your readers’ eyes through the information.
Step 4 Use the Module 4 assignment rubric to informally assess your work and ensure you have met all requirements.
