Answer Questions

Answers should be at least 200-300 words and reflect critical thought. Whenever possible, please try to relate the course content to real-world applications from your work experience. Be sure to cite all sources as well.

1. If you were a genetic counselor, what kind of information would you seek from the person or people planning to have a baby? What kind of information would you want to provide that person or those people with to optimize the chances of having a healthy baby? 

2. Do you think your environment or genetics were more important in your childhood development? Why? You may use the example of someone you have observed, if you prefer (ensure confidentiality).

3. Chapters 3, 4, and 5 discuss milestones of infant development and consider the impact of environment and genetics. Theories outline expectations for "normal" development.

What potential changes in the progress of development can occur when milestones are not met or when environmental challenges are present, e.g., physical disability or lack of natural resources?
