Topic: Any topic (writer's choice)Type of paper: CourseworkDiscipline: EnglishFormat or citation style: APAInstructions:
The primary purpose of this assignment is for you to locate and summarize credible research as it pertains to a topic, concept, theory, or argument discussed in the course. Given this, the annotated bibliography is one of the ways in which you’ll demonstrate the course learning outcome to “evaluate and conduct . . . secondary research.”
Your annotated bibliography will consist of the following:
- 200 - 300 word introduction
- 10 - 12 annotations, about 250 words each, that summarize peer-reviewed journal articles.
Said articles should be at least 10 pages long and should not have been used in a previous
assignment. - 200 - 300 word conclusion
The introduction will explain topic, concept, theory, or argument you chose. Annotations will be prefaced with an APA citation. All annotations should provide a concise content summary of the source. For example, annotations describing primary research should include the author’s research questions(s), methodology, results, and conclusions. The conclusion will function to create an overall argument of the relationship of the selected sources.
Visit the Cornell University Library website for additional information on annotated bibliographies. ***PLEASE BE ADVISED OF THE FOLLOWING***
This assignment will be time consuming given that it entails locating, reading, and summarizing scholarship. Do not wait until the last minute to begin this assignment.
Your annotations should be written in your own words and include a limited number of direct quotations so that the annotations demonstrate your understanding of the material. Plagiarism of any kind will not be tolerated. Per university policy indicated in the course syllabus, “the penalty for an academic honesty violation on a significant course requirement such as a term paper/project or final examination shall be an ‘F’ for the course.”
