American Modern Civilization Short Paper

This assignment must be a minimum of four (4) and a maximum of five (5) pages in length, double-spaced, with reasonable font and margin size choices. The document must contain your name and a title.

Below are excerpts from documents by George Kennan, Richard Nixon, Dwight D. Eisenhower, Lyndon B. Johnson, John F. Kennedy and Kwame Nkrumah. Before answering the prompt, think about the experiences these people had within the time-frame of the Cold War, and think about the ideas which are shared (and not shared, and which ones are entirely absent) among these excerpts. Chapter 27 of the book has some information to help with this. Consider what each person thinks ought to be done (or not done) to help the American people within this conflict. Then answer the following question:

How do these historical figures understand the Cold War as a conflict within world history?

You do not have to identify an identical issue for each, although you should try to include at least three of them in your thesis and in your paper. For this assignment you should also consult two articles from academic, peer-reviewed journals. Therefore, your essay must have five (5) sources: three chossen from the document attached here, plus your two chosen peer-reviewed articles.
