Communication, empathy, compassion, confidence, flexibility, optimism, and bring non-
judgmental are just a few of the many attributes of leadership styles and approaches that can facilitate
the quality of supervision. There are a lot of expectations and responsibilities that comes along with
being a supervisor which can make that roll pretty tough at times. Not all supervisors are great leaders
or have good leadership skills. I have had supervisors with good leadership skills and I have had
supervisors with poor leadership skills. Based my experiences with both, I would most definitely choose
the supervisor with good leadership skills over the supervisor with poor leadership skills. Being under
the supervision of an individual with poor leadership skills can bring down your moral, motivation, and
productivity. When I was under the supervision of the individual with poor leadership skills it made
going into very dreadful and sometimes extremely frustrating, which was really horrible because this
was a job that I really and truly loved. However the poor leadership that I was under caused me to
despise a job that once loved. When I was under the leadership of an individual that had great
leadership it made the job much more enjoyable and easier. This individual was also what you would call
a great team player. This individual was had great communication, empathy, very understanding, and
had that “let me help you” mindset which I thought was great.
Evaluate the supervisory and leadership skills demonstrated in the Petrakis case study
by identifying which supervisory and leadership skills the supervisor demonstrated.
While viewing the Petrakis video I could not help but to notice that the supervisor had some
